Engaging with the local communities

Engaging various segments of the local community is crucial to the success of our project. We plan to involve:

Domestic Violence Survivors: Our primary target group. The safe house will provide these individuals with a secure environment and the resources they need to recover and regain independence.

Local Organizations: By partnering with health clinics, legal aid services, job training centers, and educational institutions, we create a network of support for survivors. These collaborations also raise awareness among staff at these organizations about the issues faced by survivors of domestic violence.

Local Law Enforcement: Working with law enforcement will ensure the safety of the residents of the safe house. It also encourages mutual understanding, with law enforcement gaining insights into the challenges faced by survivors, and survivors having a more positive engagement with law enforcement.

Volunteers: Local community members will be encouraged to support the safe house through volunteering and fundraising activities. This helps to foster a community spirit of care and support and raises awareness about domestic violence.

Local Schools and Community Groups: By engaging schools and community groups in awareness programs, we will be educating younger generations and the wider public about the issue of domestic violence. This could lead to a long-term reduction in domestic violence and a more supportive community response to survivors.

Local Government: Working closely with local government representatives ensures their buy-in and support, which could lead to more resources being allocated to address domestic violence in the community.

Through these engagements, our project aims to bring about transformative change not only in the lives of the survivors who will live in the safe house, but also in the wider community's understanding and response to domestic violence.
